model 1

My ambition as a luthier is to create the best sounding guitar that has or will ever exist. When I close my eyes, I can hear it. I will likely never make that guitar, but I hope to inch closer to that goal with every guitar I make.

The model 1 is the culmination of all my heart, soul, and experience building guitars. I aim to make each of these guitars to be something truly special and unique to each client; to give them something more than just a guitar or just a tool for creating music. I try to reach perfection in visual design, ergonomics, and most importantly tone with every model 1 I make.

master grade materials

The model 1 guitars are built using only the very best materials from my inventory. Every piece is carefully selected for its visual appearance, structural integrity, and tonal potential. These materials are all well-seasoned and dry and will make for an excellent guitar.

For the soundboard, I use only European Spruce or Western Red Cedar.

For the back and sides, clients have a wide range of beautiful materials to choose from including Ebony, European Maple, Ziricote, and Madagascan Rosewood. Once a client has narrowed down their choice to a certain species I offer, I send them photos of individual sets from my inventory so the client can select the set they like most.

personalized rosettes

I try to make my model 1 guitars feel like more than just a guitar to my clients. I want my clients to have a deep emotional connection with their guitar. Part of making that happen is by making a totally unique and personalized rosette for every model 1. I communicate a lot with my clients and through that communication I create several different rosette designs that might appeal to every individual.

Whether the client wants something floral, or space-themed, or red or blue or pink, I will make a beautiful rosette that speaks to the person and helps make the guitar feel completely bespoke.

premium tuning

Every model 1 comes fitted with custom-made Rodgers machine heads.

These were designed by myself in collaboration with Rodgers using my own artwork, which matches the artwork of my logo, and the ends of the plates are the same as the head design used on the model 1 guitars.

added features and options

There are plenty of extra features that can be added to your model 1. Rare materials, armrests, bevel scoops, combo tops, lattice bracing, and 19th century design, are just a few of the ways you can customize your guitar to your liking.

There is a lot more we can discuss about the model 1 guitars, and I am always looking for ways to improve the sound, playability, visuals, and features of these instruments so I one day reach my goal of building what I consider to be the perfect guitar.
